I've had the broiled grapefruit before at a restaurant that no longer exists in Manhattan -- they called it "grapefruit brulee". Yummers. And so darned easy. Never was too motivated to try it at home, but there doesn't seem to be much that could go wrong.
I made something like this last night for dessert, but used honey instead of sugar, sprinkled cayenne pepper and threw mint and a dab of full-fat yoghurt on it afterwards. ya dude.
Greetings and Salutations:
Just a simple question? What is the growing or harvesting time in our country?
Beterr yet, what is the best time to buy Grapefruits at their peak of freshness?
I live in the panhandle of Florida, very near the gulf of mexico - I have two Texas Ruby grapefruit trees I started from seed. The trees are loaded with fruit. What is the best time to harvest these grapefruits?
Oh, I just asked a question and then I read "comments" from others. Will someone please answer my question concering the harvest time for Ruby Reds in the Florida Panhandle of Florida????

Have been doing this for years. Learned it from my Mother. Have a nice red grapefruit tree myself so I eat them a lot. I find I don't really need to use that much sugar. Guess it depends on the fruit. I sometimes use turbinado.
